Keep Britain Tidy

Keep Britain Tidy – an eye catching stunt

An image tells a thousand words, so when Keep Britain Tidy came to Mere PR for a hard hitting, high profile way to mark the launch of its biggest anti-smoking litter campaign to date, we rose to the challenge – literally!

The brief was to highlight the scale and size of the problem, which represents the UK’s largest litter issue, so Mere PR organised for a giant cigarette butt measuring 30ft high and 1.5metres wide to be dramatically ‘dropped’ in Trafalgar Square. The cigarette butt was specially constructed to represent the number of stubs discarded on the streets of the UK every year, caking the kerbs and costing the taxpayer millions of pounds to clean up.

It was an instant hit with the media, generating national press coverage in the UK and attracting the attention of a worldwide audience in more than 15 additional countries around the globe.
