Durapipe – educating an industry
Our B2B team manages clients’ reputations across a range of industries, including IT, building, healthcare, education, law and accountancy. Education of some market sectors invariably can come into play - and in the case of client Durapipe, Mere PR is helping to re-educate an entire industry!
As a leading manufacturer of plastic pipework systems, Durapipe UK regularly met with obstruction from potential customers in the building services industry, who remained loyal to metal pipework.
In response, Mere PR proposed a series of initiatives to raise the issue of plastic versus metal in the pipework industry, educate future building professionals in the value of plastics and most importantly, have Durapipe own the debate and turn tradition on its head.
Highlights of the campaign included:
- Working with SummitSkills, the sector skills council for the building services industry
- Visiting colleges throughout the UK to manage seminars
- Creating and issuing a series of training webinars
- Hosting a high profile round table debate at RIBA in association with PHAM News
- Generating more than 15 by-lined articles across the building services media, campaigning for more awareness and use of plastics.
As a result of the campaign (which is still only in its infancy), the SummitSkills SkillPIPE annual event is now incorporating plastics, high profile contacts across the building industry have publicly pledged their support to Durapipe and a bespoke training module is in discussion as part of the curriculum, in association with our client.
Completely reinvigorating an industry used to be called The Magners Effect – at Mere PR, we call it The Durapipe Effect!
