Jack Rodwell unveils amber away kit
Hundreds of Everton fans turned out to see Jack Rodwell unveil the new amber away kit for the 2011 / 2012 season at an event organised by Mere PR this week. Fans’ favourite Jack delighted fans as he signed autographs and posed for pictures with the admiring supporters, while he showed off the new kit. As well as the impressive crowds that flocked to the store, we also secured coverage on Sky Sports, Granada Reports and in the Liverpool Echo and Post for the new kit.
Cash Generator shortlisted for national award
Discount retail client, Cash Generator, has successfully been nominated for the much coveted bfa Franchisor of The Year Award. After Mere PR submitted a detailed entry we were delighted to find out our hard work had paid dividends for the buy, sell and loan store.
Cash Generator now faces some stiff competition on the night from the likes of McDonalds and Belvoir lettings, but here at Mere PR we’re quietly confident that the Bolton based company can triumph. Good luck Cash Generator!
Ryan Giggs celebrates Metrolink Manchester FA partnership
Football legend Ryan Giggs showed his support for Metrolink’s partnership with the Manchester FA at a recent grassroots dinner at Old Trafford. Giggs spent time with Metrolink MD, Philip Purdy, and Metrolink Strategic Marketing Manager, Julie Derbyshire, as well as the Mere PR team at the event discussing his grassroots days as a Salford schoolboy. He then took to the stage with Edwin Van Der Sar for a Q&A session.
Metrolink has signed a two year contract with the Manchester FA as the Official Travel Partner. With the aim of getting football communities across the region get on the move, the partnership will focus on developing grassroots football, improving the coaching and training facilities in Greater Manchester.
Maritim Hotels checks in with Mere PR
Germany’s leading hotel chain, Maritim Hotels, has checked in with Mere PR for a proactive PR campaign to introduce its brand and portfolio of 51 hotel properties to the UK market.
Commencing immediately, the Mere PR travel team will target the travel trade press and conferencing and meeting titles with a mix of media relations and press visits – giving journalists the opportunity to enjoy the Maritim experience and famous German hospitality for themselves.
Eager to get started, the team has just returned from a flying ’induction’ visit to Germany where it took in several of the group’s most popular hotels in major cities including Cologne, Bonn, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf.
Mere PR shortlisted for CIPR Excellence Award
Work implemented by Mere PR to support the launch of Everton Football Club’s pink away kit has been shortlisted for a prestigious CIPR Excellence Award. Recognising and rewarding best practice in public relations throughout the UK, the awards acknowledge personal and team achievement at the highest professional level. Fingers and toes crossed until the awards ceremony later this year!
Just for kicks
Macclesfield Town FC footie stars Hamza Bencherif and Tony Diagne staged an impromtu kick about with fans outside the new Cash Generator store on Chester Gate in Macclesfield during the recent opening celebrations. In addition to getting fans involved, they also put store owner Ian Last through his paces testing his fitness with some very competitive keepy uppy – at least there was no dribbling…!
Manchester’s first ever Business Personality of the Year is revealed
Many congratulations to Kitbag’s MD, Ray Evans, who scooped the very first ‘Business Personality of the Year’ award at the inaugural Downtown Manchester in Business Awards 2011 which were held at Manchester Cathedral.
One of the top gongs in the prestigious ceremony, Ray received the award in recognition of his drive and ambition for Kitbag and recent achievements in terms of business growth and development – well done Ray!
Young designer scores with City
13 year old Manchester City fan, Megan Roberts, is celebrating her t-shirt design being worn by fellow blues after winning a competition organised by Mere PR.
After taking part in a ‘design a tee’ workshop at the Manchester City stadium, Megan’s design was deemed so good by the judges that it has been produced and is now being sold in the CityStores.
Megan’s design has been a hit with fans and her win has seen her being profiled on the big screen before a European match and in her local media.
The Vitality Show beckons
The team is busy finishing off the final preparations for The Vitality Show this week; for the second year running, Mere PR is organising and managing client Halo’s presence at the largest female consumer exhibition, taking place at the end of March at Earl’s Court. In addition to maximising awareness of Halo’s attendance at the show through pre-promotion, we have ensured that everyone who comes onto the stand will enjoy their experience of Halo, with a beauty therapist on stand offering treatments and great offers on the handy range of wipes. We will also be launching this year’s ‘Face of Halo’ competition, so if you think you have what it takes to represent the brand, make sure you come and pay us a visit!
Press trip a flying success
Always willing to go the extra mile for its clients, Mere PR’s Rick Wheeldon recently went as far Prague to host a media visit for low cost airline bmibaby. The visit to Prague saw bmibaby, Birmingham Airport and Czech Tourism host 26 journalists and partners from the West Midlands.
After a spot of sight seeing, the guests were whisked for a meal at the one of the city’s best restaurants and bmibaby’s managing director, Julian Carr, was on hand to talk about the airline’s plans for 2011.
