Mere PR launches new Tigers store
Mere PR enlisted the help of former England and Tigers captain, Martin Corry, to launch the new Leicester Tigers stadium store this week. The retired rugby star attended the exclusive preview evening on Wednesday evening, entertaining partners and sponsors of the club with tales from his playing days. A true professional, he also braved the heavy rain that descended on Leicester on Thursday morning to officially open the store and meet and greet fans, signing autographs and posing for pictures.
Both events, organised and managed by Mere PR, were a huge success, with partners, fans and media all astonished at the transformation that client Kitbag has made to the stadium store since taking over the club’s retail business.
Mere PR placement students celebrate 1sts
We are delighted to hear that Ellie Adshead and Natalie Pollock, who have both been with us for the last 12 months as part of their PR degree at Leeds Metropolitan University, have both achieved a 1st for their placement year!
Working on separate teams, the girls have been given a comprehensive grounding in the PR industry, working across our diverse clients. From press release writing and media liaison, through to supporting us with events and exhibitions, the girls have worked on all aspects of our PR campaigns and their flair for PR has been rewarded in their marks for this year. We are sad to see them both leave us to return back to Leeds Metropolitan University, but wish them lots of luck in their final year.
Cheggers Instant Cash Swap Shop for Cash Generator
The king of Swap Shop landed in Liverpool this weekend to help Cash Generator promote its seven recently opened stores in the city.
Thousands of people took part in the one off ‘Instant Cash Swap Shop’ event bringing unwanted household items such as TVs, mobile phones and laptops into store and exchanging them instantly for cash!
Liverpool-born presenter and comedian Keith Chegwin fronted the activity. Back on home turf, Cheggers cheeky banter went down a treat with shoppers in the Huyton, Norris Green, Netherton and Liverpool city centre stores and the Mere PR team – we’re hoping we can work with him again soon!
A hat-trick of awards for client Kitbag
Mere PR has helped client kitbag scoop its third award in the last six months. The Kitbag team donned their glad rags last night for the glittering Downtown Liverpool in Business awards ceremony at Liverpool’s stunning Palm House and it wasn’t long before we were celebrating. Kitbag was presented with the ‘Best Marketing Campaign’ award for the Everton FC kit launch campaign, fighting off tough competition from the Grand National and the Liverpool Marathon.
Along with Everton Football Club and Kitbag’s other partners, Mere PR brought to life the themes of the three kit launches ‘Revolution’, ‘Evolution’ and ‘Devotion’ through a creative PR and marketing campaign, which delivered the key messages through all media communications including print, broadcast, online and social media.
An angel is found
A year long search to find the angelic new face of Halo Wipes generated more than 300 entries and has resulted in Tanisha Khan being selected to front a promotional campaign for the national beauty brand.
The Mere PR team developed the search for the Face of Halo in order to promote the beauty wipes nationwide and encourage trial and use by the female target audience. As part of the campaign, judges hit the streets of the UK’s towns and cities X Factor-style to find the perfect woman who reflects the fun and energetic profile of Halo.
Hundreds of entries were received and we look forward to working closely with Tanisha who was selected for her ability to remain fresh faced, cool and calm as she juggles all the elements of her busy lifestyle. An inspiration to us all!
Mere PR opens the doors to CityStore
Our busy sports team continued to develop its events portfolio when it organised the official re-opening of the £1m refurbished CityStore at the stadium on behalf of Kitbag and Manchester City. Organising and managing the exclusive VIP preview evening for club partners and selected supporters, Mere PR also handled the official opening to the general public the next day.
Competition winner Steven Roberts was overwhelmed to be chosen to officially open the new store and, with his three month old daughter Amelia, was delighted to stand alongside Manchester City Chief Executive Gary Cook to cut the ribbon and declare the store open in front of eager City fans.
A defining moment for Mere PR
The Mere PR team was among the first in the North West to witness the arrival of McLaren Manchester to Knutsford. Overseeing the media liaison and photography for the prestigious launch event, we were joined by over a hundred VIP guests waiting to catch a first glimpse of the new showroom and car. Themed around ‘defining moments in history’, the launch boasted singer Adam Glover, who serenaded everyone with his melodic tones, while Christian Audigier supplied us with exclusive themed cocktails from an illuminated bar. A great night was had by all.

Sporting double for Mere PR
It’s a hard job but someone’s got to do it!
When bmibaby invited reality TV star Vaughan Bailey from Sky Living’s latest fly-on-the-wall series ‘The Hunks’ to launch its new route to Newquay, the Mere PR team was only too happy to offer ‘hands-on’ help with the media photocall.
Treating bmibaby customers to gossip from the show as well as providing a real insight into Newquay’s hot spots and party places, Vaughan proved a real hit with bmibaby passengers – meeting and greeting them as they disembarked the aircraft.
A Birmingham boy, it looks like Vaughan is going to be a regular face on the new route from Newquay to East Midlands. It’s a much quicker and easier way for him to jet back home to see his mum! Aww!
New signing for the Mere PR sports team
Mere PR’s dedicated sports team continues to expand with the appointment of Dan Ratcliffe, a sports-mad PR graduate who is also a golf and football fanatic.
An avid golfer, Dan is a former North Wales Youth Player who played in the Junior Welsh Championships before heading to Uni to study for his PR degree.
During his time at Uni he undertook a placement in the press office at Arsenal Football Club making him perfectly placed to join Mere PR’s experienced first 11!
