Building on success with Durapipe
Mere PR is celebrating the start of a forth year working with one of the agency’s longest standing B2B clients, Durapipe. A leading plastic pipework manufacturer, Mere PR is looking forward to another successful year as it continues to build its profile as a market leader and introduce the brand to new markets. Achieving excellent results that have proven to generate sales enquiries, our PR campaign is integral to the marketing mix and we have become an extension of the internal team, which is the kind of relationship we always like to have with clients.
A winning start with Raa
Mere PR has successfully launched the innovative Raa putter to golfers across the country who are looking to improve their swing. The brainchild of Macclesfield engineer Roy Ainscough, the Raa putter promises to improve distance control and the elimination of side spin – something that can ruin even the best golfer’s game! A heavyweight media relations campaign has seen Mere PR secure national and regional coverage for the unique putter, in addition to getting it into the hands of the pros on tour.
Mere PR and Cash Generator spread Christmas cheer
We ended 2011 with a warm, fuzzy feeling here at Mere PR after a reel of successful donations from Cash Generator to worthy causes. The donations were to children’s hospitals or centres, with products from the kind Cash Generator franchise and corporate stores across the UK.
With lots of research undertaken into what items from the stores would benefit the children the most, 10 franchisees set about dropping off the sacks of gifts in time for the festive period.
We are now looking forward to 2012 involving yet more meaningful charity work just like this.
Carols for Christmas
The Mere PR team has gone all festive just recently with an X Factor style ‘Carols for Christmas’ competition for client Metrolink. We challenged budding choirs and aspiring solo singers from across Greater Manchester to enter for their chance to sing for shoppers and commuters on tram stops across the city centre. Our winner, voted for by the general public, was Ellie Murray from Droylsden who entertained commuters on Metrolink’s new South Manchester line with a selection of traditional festive favourites!
This Morning’s Dr Chris Steele encourages hand hygiene
As we head into ‘coughs and colds’ season, Mere PR has come up with a novel way to help promote its client’s range of anti-bacterial hand wipes.
The agency has teamed up with This Morning’s Dr Chris Steele to raise awareness of the importance of hand hygiene in keeping colds and flu at bay and how Sani+Hands wipes can help.
On behalf of Sani+Hands, Dr Chris Steele is encouraging the general public to carry their defences with them this winter and wipe regularly to kill the bugs and germs that lead to coughs, colds and flu.
Media response to the idea has been widespread from national and regional newspapers and women’s interest magazine to health bloggers.
Snowfalls and sweet treats
With the first snowfalls signalling the start of the European ski season, Mere PR donned its warmest winter woolies to undertake a day of media desk drops across the length and breadth of the East and West Midlands to announce two new ski routes for low cost airline bmibaby.
Armed with French pastries (a sweetener never fails!), we covered more than 300 miles in one day visiting the offices of over 15 media titles to let them know about bmibaby’s two new services to Chambery and Toulouse.
The strategy worked a ‘treat’…and the launch was covered extensively by the regional media and on the travel pages of the nationals.
Magic of Christmas comes early at McLaren Manchester
It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to sit behind the same wheel as Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in an F1 supercar, but that dream came true for a group of patients from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital when they were invited along to McLaren Manchester in Knutsford for an afternoon of festive fun and surprises.
The children were given a taste of what it’s like to be an F1 superstar as they sat behind the wheel of the state-of-the-art simulator, the very same one used by Hamilton and Button, and experienced the exact sensations and G forces as the racers as they power around the circuit.
A very special treat, the afternoon was made complete with a festive visit from the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital mascot, Humphrey, who dressed as Santa to deliver some early Christmas gifts.
Historic blue plaque unveiled in Knutsford
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Manchester has dedicated its new showroom on Manchester Road in Knutsford to the late Sir Henry Royce OBE with the unveiling of an historic blue plaque.
A select number of Rolls-Royce customers were invited to the new showroom to witness the unveiling which was undertaken by the Mayor of Knutsford, Cllr Stewart Gardiner.
Come Dine and Drink with Metrolink
As avid fans of Come Dine with Me, the Mere PR team took the opportunity to create a culinary event with a difference as part of client Metrolink’s partnership with the Manchester Food and Drink Festival.
Come Dine with Metrolink saw foodies from across Greater Manchester hop on the tram to enjoy a travelling dinner party that took in an aperitif, starter, main course and dessert at four different restaurants across the Metrolink network.
Despite the pouring rain, the event was a resounding success visiting a variety of eateries across the new MediaCityUK and South Manchester lines including Kro Piccadilly, Dimitris, Choice, The Parlour, Don Giovanni’s and Kro Piccadilly.
Guests were accompanied by one of the city’s award winning green badge guides who imparted interesting snippets of local history and knowledge along the way.
We welcome back a familiar face
We’re delighted to welcome back Fergus Mulchrone, who spent 12 months with us a couple of years ago as part of his degree in Marketing Management at Manchester Metropolitan University.
After a spell at Sale Sharks, Fergus has decided to make a permanent move into PR, swapping being a prop forward for a PR professional. Already at home and feeling like he’s never been away, Fergus is getting to grips with a range of our sports and leisure clients.
