Metrolink’s in the running…
I was joined by marathon legend Ron Hill MBE this week to announce that Metrolink will offer free tram travel to all Greater Manchester Marathon runners.
The oldest participant in this Sunday’s marathon, Aeron Rees, 79 compared running notes with Ron, who, at a sprightly 73, informed me that he has ‘only’ run 35 miles this week, which was less than usual. Aeron, who was resting before the big event, has participated in an amazing 54 marathons.
The marathon starts and finishes in Stretford, close to the Metrolink stop and will attract 8,000 people – it’s sure to give Manchester an exciting buzz.
Press trip a flying success
Always willing to go the extra mile for its clients, Mere PR’s Rick Wheeldon recently went as far Prague to host a media visit for low cost airline bmibaby. The visit to Prague saw bmibaby, Birmingham Airport and Czech Tourism host 26 journalists and partners from the West Midlands.
After a spot of sight seeing, the guests were whisked for a meal at the one of the city’s best restaurants and bmibaby’s managing director, Julian Carr, was on hand to talk about the airline’s plans for 2011.
